Multiculturalism and being multicultural

I am from Australia. A nation that prides itself on being multicultural. It is true that there are many people of a variety of cultures living in Australia but there is one dominant culture. It is possible to live your whole life in Australia without ever meeting someone from a different culture. It’s equally possible to be exposed to other cultures but never accept those cultures. This is the difference between multiculturalism and being multicultural. A person who is multicultural embraces someone from another culture. Much the way someone makes a new friend; learning similarities and differences. Accepting the differences and rejoicing in the similarities. Steadily become closer and closer sharing cultures evenly.
